What is Qigong and Why is it in the Program?
Year 1
Last Updated: May 11 2021
Introduction
ψ In the Psionic Circles Program we will learn about Qigong and learn how to use it in our daily lives. Qi is a universal energy that is responsible for animating and enlivening everything in nature. This includes minerals, plants, animals, including humans and all spiritual entities. This universal energy, or qi, also spelled chi, is what we use to keep the human bodies healthy. In qigong practice it is used to cultivate flexibility, strength, resilience and suppleness in our bodies.
Qigong has been used in China for 4,000 years. It has its roots in Taoism, also spelled Daoism, which is a philosophy which teaches that the key to life is to follow the ‘Way‘ or ‘Path‘ of the Divine. This Path when taken will never send one off track, and will keep its followers happy, healthy, and balanced in all areas of life. All good will come to its followers, but the road is narrow,
and there are many distractions.
Qigong has six main components. They are Chi or qi, Kung, Tao, the 5 Elements, the Meridians and Channels. Each of these elements will be found in the teaching materials of the course, but for our purposes here qi is energy, the Tao, is the ‘right way, or path’, the Five Elements are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood, the Meridians are the bodily channels that energy moves through and the Channels are larger branches that allow energy to move through certain areas of the bodies.
Qigong has five main forms. These are Martial Arts Qigong, Medical Qigong, Spiritual Qigong, Moving Forms Qigong, and Still Forms Qigong. In this course we will not cover all of the forms during the first year. In subsequent years we will delve into Martial Arts Qigong, Spiritual Qigong, Moving Forms Qigong, and Still Forms Qigong. We will only touch the Medical Qigong, as this isn’t a healing program, and there are many other courses which focus upon this area.
Qigong has five main principles. They follow the five elements and relate to areas of the life cultivations and the elements. They are relaxation, resilience, enjoyment, centering, and energy. These are very important areas of study for many reasons. The most important is to be able to protect oneself of all hostile people, events, and internal circumstances.
Finally, Qigong uses a number of techniques to cultivate, store, and direct energy within the practitioner. The most important ones are stretching, breathing, warming the body, opening the joints, massage, opening the bones, knowing the kidneys and releasing the knees, and working on the hips.
The Purpose of Qigong in Psionic Circles
Our purpose for teaching you Qigong in Psionic Circles is to teach you the Chinese system of energy cultivation, storing and directing. With this information you will be able to feel energy, move it around, and send or project it to other locations.

Your first year is about becoming nimble and agile on level One. Qigong cultivates the strategic ability that enables long-term vision and the culmination and completion of the vision. In fact, Mahatma Gandhi has a great quote with corresponds with our duty of care to look after our energy. He states, ” Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed. ” In Psionics we discuss the importance of creating, maintaining, and developing our personal stores of energy, using the Earth’s energy. When we do do, we maintain perfect physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, ensuring that we have a long and healthy life. This means a type of protection and ultimately success for the Psion using the 2,000 year old Taoist technology, Qigong.
